The Skyview Golf Association has been around since 1959, giving Black golfers a chance to sharpen their skills. Our favorite feature of the reception room is the large windows that let in an abundance of natural light and the rustic elegance of the venue in general. For portraits, couples have several options, including the use of a rustic log cabin, the picturesque golf course, and a barn complete with silos. ![]() This is one of our very favorite New Jersey Wedding Venues! Located on a sprawling golf course, the ceremony location is wonderfully scenic and offers panoramic views of the surrounding rolling hills. Fix those issues and you'll have a 4 or 5 star course.The Skyview Golf Club is located in rural Sussex County in the town of Sparta, NJ. They need to put up a high fence of some type between the range and the 18th fairway to make sure the players are safe. For over six decades, the Skyview Golf Tournament has been home to some of golfs greatest moments in Asheville. When I played there were dozens of range balls in the middle of that fairway and there were also 2 people hitting on the range. A tournament with a history unlike any other. Another big issue is their driving range runs adjacent to the 18th fairway. I'm pretty sure the yardage on the concrete blocks is more accurate than the yardage on the scorecards. The difference was usually about 30 yards. The yardage on the scorecard they provide does not match the yardage on the concrete blocks near each of the tee boxes. ![]() In the middle of the summer when it is light until well after 8:00 PM and the temperatures can be pretty high you might get a bit dehydrated before finishing your round. One issue is they do not have drinking water on the course and the tee house after the 8th hole closes at 5:00 PM. You only return after the 18th and final hole. The course does not return to the clubhouse after the 9th hole. The greens and fairways were in good shape on my visit. It is uphill and the sloping green will challenge you to make par. The short par 4 on the back nine plays much more difficult than the length. The SkyView Golf Association founding members created a vibrant golf culture in Asheville, North Carolina in 1960 and built a golf tournament showcasing. ![]() You'll certainly need a second shot to put you in position to hit down to the green below. You need to hit blindly to a very narrow fairway. The par 5 dog leg left on the front nine is extremely difficult. As you gain course experience your level of play here will likely improve. The first time you play here will certainly be more difficult. There are lots of elevation changes and many shots need to be hit blindly. SkyView plays fairly short from both the white and blue tees but the relatively high slope will convince you the course is very challenging. ![]()
